Appropriations: Funding for Peacekeepers

The United States has fulfilled its obligations to the United Nations (UN) for peacekeeping in 2008.

Although the funding push was successful this year, we must continue to work to ensure full funding.

• Ask Congress to support a 10% increase in the international affairs account by 2010.

Without adequate money in the international affairs (150) account of the budget, the United States cannot effectively prevent genocide, promote peace, and ensure civilian protection.

• Ask Congress to pay off the United States' debt to the UN for peacekeeping.
