Seeking Justice for Darfur

Dear Friends,
Last week, International Criminal Court prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo formally requested an arrest warrant for Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir, presenting evidence after a three-year investigation that al-Bashir has committed genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity against targeted ethnic groups in Darfur. This is the first time in history that the ICC prosecutor has brought charges against a sitting head of state.
The Darfuri Leaders Network, a network of leading Darfuri organizations in the United States and around the world who advocate for the rights, justice and security of the people of Darfur, issued a strong statement in support of the charges.
Moreno-Ocampo and the people of Darfur need our vocal support to bring al-Bashir to justice. Watch an exclusive GI-NET video interview with the prosecutor on the need for a permanent anti-genocide constituency.
Civilians in Darfur, Burma, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and around the world need protection and justice. This month, educate a neighbor, friend, or legislator about our movement. Together, we can build a world without genocide.
